The State of Rio de Janeiro will receive another 1 million doses of the yellow fever vaccine in the coming weeks. With the new remittances, the State Department of Health intends to continue the vaccination of residents of the regions considered most vulnerable to the disease. Out of the 64 municipalities considered priority, 44 have already received sufficient doses for immunization, according to the state secretary.
The new lots will supply the other 20 cities, in addition to being used to replenish inventories from other municipalities. Since the beginning of the year, the state of Rio de Janeiro has received more than 3.6 million doses of yellow fever vaccine from the Ministry of Health. Rio de Janeiro has had ten confirmed cases of yellow fever in humans so far.
