The City of Florianópolis evaluated as “positive” the recent summer season. According to the City Hall, there were 10% more foreign tourists than the previous year. The assessment was made at a meeting on Wednesday (26) and released on Thursday (27).
At the meeting, the Water and Sewage Company (Casan) presented a report stating that there were no major problems with water supply or sewage collection.
A fact that the City Hall failed to clarify was that there was a drastic reduction of tourists in the capital of Santa Catarina, where practically only foreigners (mainly Argentineans) came to the island.
Santa Catarina Electric Power Plants (Celesc) said that there was a decrease in the number of occurrences of lack of energy and in the response time to these cases.
According to the Fire Department, the number of drowning deaths has also decreased. It had been 14 last season and only five this year. There were 350 life guards at more than 50 points in the county. All deaths occurred in unmonitored locations. The firefighters had to act in 1,8 thousand situations to avoid drowning.
There were no serious occurrences recorded by the Port Authority.
The Capital Improvement Company (Comcap) said that there was a reduction of 1.5% in the volume of garbage collected.
