An ordinance of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications determined, on Monday (8), a price increase that should impact the pocket of Post Office customers.
All the state's rates will rise by 7.48%. The Ministry of Finance had already determined tariff readjustments in April, as it occurs annually. The post's financial return has been declining since 2014. The company suffered a loss of R$ 2.1 billion in 2015 and R$ 2 billion in the past year.
In March, Minister Gilberto Kassab (Science, Technology and Communications) threatened to sell the state-owned company if it did not recover its financial situation. "Otherwise we're going to start privatization," he said.
