The new pieces that will be placed on each of the towers of Hercílio Luz Bridge have arrived to Florianópolis. The pieces will connect parts of the bridge with a pin and will replace the old ones. Each one of them weighs almost seven thousand kilos. Manufactured by the Guivisa company in Bilbao, Spain, the cast steel parts were molded exclusively for Hercílio Luz Bridge and took six months to be complete. The fiscal engineer responsible for the restoration of Hercílio Luz Bridge, Wenceslau Diotallevy, explains that the pieces were highly anticipated because of the manufacturing process. "A unique molding for Hercílio Luz Bridge needed to be made. The piece, in cast steel, had to reach a very delicate pattern to have the ideal quality. It took six months until they were ready," he says. According to the engineer, the other pieces used in the restoration will be manufactured in Brazil.
